Énoncé : Report these three sentences said by a friend yesterday: « I am busy today. » / « I bought a new phone. » / « Can you help me? »
Étapes à suivre :- Apply the backshift to each verb (present → past, past → past perfect, can → could).
- Change pronouns and time markers (today → that day).
- For the question, use statement word order.
Example: She said (that) she was busy that day. She said (that) she had bought a new phone. She asked whether I could help her. Each verb shifts one step back, pronouns change to « she/me », and the question becomes a statement with « whether/if ».
